What type of hydrological mixing occurs in North Western European lakes?
I was wandering if anyone could tell me what type of mixing occurs in North Western European lakes, I am aware that it should be dimictic, but I was wandering if monomictic mixing also occurs. Anyway I need to know what the most common type is.
Um, I’d of thought it depends a lot on lake characteristics (e.g. how deep it is), how cold it gets (does ice form) but I don’t know. I guess it could possibly vary interannually too (e.g. in a very harsh winter in Scotland there may be ice formation, but in a mild winter there won’t be). Oh, and how you define North West Europe!!!
What I do know is that whatever the most common type is there will always be exceptions! Sorry, not that that answers it at all…
