Why do comic books use different artists for the interior and the cover?

I know that having a cover done by a major name artist can raise sales, but is there any other reason why they have one artist do the cover and another do the interior? Sometimes the work on the cover is a different style than what is inside. It seems like it would be more logical to have the cover art be representative of the interior art.

It’s just a way to grab attention. And most artists will put more detail in the covers than they will in the book. The cover is the first impression the reader will get, while the art inside is basically there to move the story along.

The coolest comic book cover ever.
